Pentlow Goes Full Circle 30 Year Later

Carole & Barry Alford have retired from being local Health & Social Care providers after an amazing 30 years. They started their extraordinary journey in Eastbourne by acquiring the Inglewood Nursing Home in 1981.

They then established the Carlisle Lodge Nursing Home in 1984, and finally, parting with Inglewood and Carlisle Lodge in order to purchase and expand the Pentlow & Summerdown Nursing Homes in 1987. From there they have built up the business to incorporate Pentlow Community Care Services, Pentlow Meals Delivery Service and Pentlow Training Centre. They are extremely proud of their record of providing high quality care to thousands of Eastbourne residents.

On Thursday 20 September Carole & Barry hosted a lunchtime gathering of staff, clients and relatives, to celebrate their retirement and to welcome the new owners, Canford Healthcare Plc, who have the same philosophy for high quality health & social care as they do. Carole, who was retiring after 46 years of nursing, added that Canford Healthcare had previously acquired Inglewood Nursing home and by adding the Pentlow Group of businesses they were at the start of the journey that she and Barry had embarked on some 30 years earlier.

Brian Cooney, CEO, and Barry Lambert, Chief Operating Officer for Canford Healthcare, who were present at the gathering stated that they were delighted to add Pentlow to their company. Barry Lambert added that they were looking forward to working with the staff to continue to provide high quality care services to all their clients.
