Mayflower Care Home Awards were launched at the start of this year and residents, relatives and staff have been nominating individuals who have inspired, achieved and excelled in their roles. There were many nominations in the first month, and the winners were two outstanding members of staff.

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP’s analysis of the mid market (companies with turnover between £10m-300m) has shown that Canford Healthcare is one of the Central South’s success stories, reporting impressive growth during the last four years.
Canford Healthcare recently acknowledged some staff super stars celebrating long service. Over 40 members of staff with 10+ years service were invited to afternoon tea, held at the Hydro Hotel in Eastbourne. Two members of staff, Gilian Ash from Barty House in Bearsted and Patricia Boniface from Pentlow Nursing Home in Eastbourne, have topped 20 years of service each.
Directors Barry Lambert and Brian Cooney presented framed certificates and a bouquet of flowers to each member of staff. All were celebrating at least 10 years of service of within their Canford care home, many over fifteen years. Staff also received an extra day of paid holiday this year. The highly enjoyable event was an opportunity for the directors, and the Home’s Managers to thank their staff.
Pam Gillard, from Inglewood Nursing home in Eastbourne; celebrating 16 years of service, said “I was surprised and delighted to receive a long service award. Not only do I feel valued at Inglewood by Canford, the afternoon tea was most enjoyable and it was lovely that the directors personally presented me with such beautiful flowers”. Barry Lambert said “I would like to thank our committed team for the efforts they put in everyday which make our homes a special place for our residents.”

To welcome staff from 5 new care homes to the group, Canford Healthcare held a conference at the Haven Hotel, Sandbanks.
The Poole based company now employ over 1000 staff in Dorset, Kent, Sussex and Essex.
The conference afforded an opportunity for managers and administrators, from Canford’s 10 care homes and 2 home care agencies, to enjoy a packed programme of training while networking with the Poole support team and operational staff.
Canford Healthcare enjoys an excellent reputation for care with the majority of services achieving 9+ on an independent care home rating site.

In March this year each resident at Inglewood planted a sunflower seed into single pots for this year's tallest sunflower competition. Over the months from March the residents and staff have watched the tender seedlings grow from tiny shoots to huge plants- some measuring over nine feet tall !
